With the bioeconomy expected to represent $4 trillion in economic activity in the next decade, the opportunities to translate cutting-edge research into bio-based products that are more sustainable and durable than existing options are abundant. Minnesota is positioned to play a leading role given investments in infrastructure and a critical mass of expertise. Several new developments at the University of Minnesota promise to address this critical need and position the College of Biological Sciences squarely at the center of an emerging nexus of biomanufacturing innovation and activity in the region.
