Alex is an ecologist with a background in plant ecophysiology, community ecology, and biogeography.  He helmed the plant collection for CBS for years, and has continued to expand his horticultural expertise.  Alex is also an accomplished science communicator and is the moderator for the CBS panel discussion series Petri Dish.
