Research statement
My research is focused on student beliefs and experiences of race and gender in STEM classrooms, and how they are impacted by educational structures. I am designing assessment instruments to measure students' beliefs about race and examine how classrooms impact student biases. I also investigate how the ways sex and gender are taught in STEM classes impact transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students. Working with students to hear their stories and connect them to broader systemic problems in education is challenging but rewarding!
