The Bazurto Lab is located on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. We are a part of the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology and are housed in the Cargill Building, in affiliation with the Microbial and Plant Genomic Institute. In addition to being home to the thriving research community at the University, the Twin Cities are a great place to live and play!
Undergraduates
If you are excited to get research experience in the Bazurto lab there are a lot of ways to get involved! Send me an email (jbazurto@umn.edu) and we can set up a meeting to talk about possible opportunities.
Graduate Students
The lab can currently accept students that are enrolled in the Plant and Microbial Biology (PMB) Ph.D./M.S. graduate programs, the Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology (MICaB) PhD program, and the Microbial Engineering (MicE) M.S. program.
Postdoctoral Fellows
I am currently seeking highly motivated postdocs interested in characterizing molecular mechanisms of stress response systems in a well-defined, genetically tractable model organism by combining molecular approaches with experimental evolution and omics analyses.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. (or be close to completion) with expertise in microbiology and/or molecular biology as well as a demonstrated record of productivity. Experience with R and/or bioinformatic analyses would be highly beneficial for most available projects.
Please submit a cover letter that includes research and career interests, a CV and information for 3 references.
